Imprisoned

I scream, yet my cry bounces back at me

I scratch, yet my etch fails to carve this wall

I crave, yet my hunger won’t end today

I dig, yet can’t escape from this cold cell

I pray, yet still no one will hear my plea

I tug, yet the chain binds me to this ball

I brave, yet my courage starts to decay

I ache, yet comfort soothes my self-made hell
